HOW ARMALASERS ARE DESIGNED AND MADE

For over 6 months as the first ArmaLaser was being developed, Rick Hovsepian explained many times to a local gun range owner the system's features and capabilities. Then in February 2006, he showed him one of the first units. The gun range owner turned to Rick and said ''I had no idea it worked this way, this is great!''

Hence the difficulty of explaining something that needs to be experienced. The ArmaLaser system is a seamless and intuitive laser unit. Simply, the laser tuns on, by itself, when you need it most. It really is a micro-electronics engineering marvel. But how does it really work?

  ADVANCED CUTTING-EDGE MICRO-ELECTRONICS

On this compact printed circuit board lay the components that make the Armalaser system so special. Their patent-pending layout uses a very special computer chip that recognizes human touch. There is no pressure-sensitive or mechanical switch that turns the laser on. It is all done electronically.

This integrated circuit allows the system to be constantly ''on the hunt'' for human contact. The human body gives off a certain voltage that the electronics in the Armalaser system recognizes; it then uses this power to quickly activates the laser beam. Unlike other systems that are grip-mounted, you do not have to ''press'' anything or change your grip pressure or reach for some awkwardly located switch. Just the fact that your finger is there will turn the laser on.

If you want to deactivate the system so that the laser can't turn on, there is a kill switch that is located on the bottom of the unit. The ''Kill'' switch is located in a recessed portion of the housing so that it can't be toggled by regular handling or drawing/holstering the pistol. Only if you intentionally move the switch will it toggle between ''Off'' and ''Armed''.

The other main component on the board is a micro-computer which monitors the system and features an advanced power management software. This software stretches battery life as far as possible allowing for 6 hours of continuous laser ''On'' time and up to one year of ''Armed'' time. The whole system uses a small amount of power to keep itself in the ''Armed'' mode and the micro-computer manages all of it. If the battery capacity gets too low (about a few days of standby or a few minutes of ''On'' time left) the unit will keep the laser on constantly so that it discharges completely and to warn you that the batteries are too low for use.

The micro-computer also acts as a timer. Once the laser turns on, it will stay on for 12 seconds and then shut off ONLY if it hadn't been touched DURING the time it was on. So, in use, the laser will stay on as long as your finger is in the trigger guard. When you remove your finger or lay the gun down, holster it, etc., the timer will shut the laser down by itself after 12 seconds to conserve battery life.

RSS Version

The RSS is an amazing piece of technology. Being able to incorporate that many features into such a small area would have been unthinkable even a few years ago. Armalaser is one of only a few laser systems that will even work on the short rails of today's new popular sub-compacts and the true touch activation is the biggest practical advantage. It works like a toggle-switch, just all electronically. Touch it to turn on, touch it to turn off. Very simple, streamlined and easy.

5 YEAR WARRANTY

 Armalaser Inc. will warranty any defective unit within five (5) years of initial purchse. Proof of purchase will be required. Please e-mail or call with your return request and they will issue you a Return Authorization number. Most warranty items can be shipped with in three (3) days of receipt barring weekends and holidays. Warranty does not apply to units that have been abused, improperly installed, altered and modified, or when batteries have been improperly installed and cause damage beyond repair.



Upgrade and Exchange Program

 Armalasers Upgrade and Exchange Program is something no other laser manufacturer offers. Let's say you buy an Armalaser for a Glock and then you sell your Glock and buy a Kahr or Kel-tec. You can send in you old Armalaser and for $29, they can rehouse the expensive electronics in a new polymer housing for your new model pistol.

 Let's say Armalaser makes an improvement or offers a green laser version in the future. For a specific fee, you can upgrade your system to the newer version.

 As an Armalaser owner, the experience doesn't end when they get your money like it is with many other companies. Armalaser will always have programs in place that will help keep you protected, even as technologies and your needs change.

   HI-TECH BAKED-ON TOUCH SENSOR

The actual touch sensor is the silver strip you see on the inside of the trigger guard portion of the unit.
This is the only way the laser turns on. When the skin on your finger brushes up against this silver strip, the voltage from your finger transfers to this strip, then to the electronics board. This is a very advanced and hi-tech sensor system in that there are no moving or separate parts. The sensor is applied to the polymer housing in a thin layer and then permanently baked on in a special oven to become an integral part of the unit. It can't be scratched or rubbed off with a fingernail or through normal use and is tough as nails.

 

   DUPONT ZYTEL ST-8018 ADVANCED ENGINEERING POLYMER

All ArmaLaser housings are injection-molded from the same polymer that the major firearms manufacturers use in their polymer pistol grips/frames. Tough, durable, chemical and heat resistant, this material is expensive and difficult to mold but makes the best products available today. Our designers are retired ex-employees for THE major cellular phone and pager manufacturer (starts with an M and ends in an A) and have over 20 years experience each in designing all those pager housings you've seen over the years. Robust and extremely tough and durable are the words to describe an ArmaLaser housing along with excellent fit to your pistol.
